Render
Customer Engineer
About this role
Render seeks a Customer Engineer to launch and scale its first programmatic customer success motion for high-growth accounts and startups. You'll blend scaled digital engagement—webinars, in-app flows, and targeted outreach—with building reusable tools and content that empower both customers and the broader Field Engineering team.
What you'll do
- Partner with Scaled Account Managers to convert usage signals (bandwidth, egress patterns) into expansion and churn-prevention plays and AM talking points
- Operate startup program onboarding flows, checklists, and activation follow-up sequences via Intercom and in-product guidance
- Collaborate with Support Engineering to identify recurring customer friction points and scale solutions through content and programs
- Build and iterate scaled-engagement toolkit components: in-app triggers, pricing calculators, POC templates, and technical enablement
- Execute scaled customer programs including webinars, Slack community engagement, and cohort-based outreach campaigns
- Maintain data hygiene for activity tracking and feature requests to inform Field Engineering and Product decisions
What they're looking for
- Cloud infrastructure fundamentals (containers, deploys, autoscaling, networking, CI/CD)
- Postgres and database migration patterns (Heroku, AWS RDS)
- Strong written communication and technical content creation
- One-to-many program execution and systems thinking
- AI/LLM application development knowledge and daily AI tool fluency
- Intercom, in-app messaging, and customer engagement platform experience
- Customer-facing technical troubleshooting and advisory skills
- Data analysis and customer signal interpretation
