About this role

Join Rivian and Volkswagen Group Technologies' Connectivity Cloud team as a Backend Cloud Engineer to build scalable microservices for electric vehicle software systems. You'll design resilient, high-throughput distributed systems using Java and Kotlin across Kubernetes and serverless AWS environments.

What you'll do

  • Build and maintain highly reliable, scalable microservices from prototype to production
  • Design and implement secure REST and gRPC APIs for internal and external consumption
  • Develop event-driven architectures using message queues and asynchronous processing at scale
  • Deploy and optimize backend services across Kubernetes and AWS Lambda environments
  • Implement engineering best practices through code reviews, testing, and root-cause analysis
  • Leverage automation to streamline deployment pipelines and reduce operational friction
