About this role
Rocket Lab seeks an IT Network Engineer II to support their Wallops Island launch facility with advanced network infrastructure expertise and day-to-day technical support. You'll troubleshoot complex issues, implement infrastructure standards, and participate in 24/7 mission operations while collaborating across engineering teams.
What you'll do
- Resolve complex network infrastructure and systems issues through advanced troubleshooting and analysis
- Provide technical expertise to optimize performance and availability of critical IT systems
- Drive infrastructure upgrades and maintenance with focus on reliability and security
- Implement IT standards for Launch environments ensuring compliance and high availability
- Participate in on-call rotation supporting 24/7/365 Launch Mission Operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and deploy optimized infrastructure solutions

- Network infrastructure deployment (routers, switches, firewalls)
- Fortinet Firewalls and Juniper/Cisco Switches
- Enterprise network architecture and administration
- Linux/Windows system administration
- Network monitoring tools and packet capture analysis
- VLAN configuration and multicasting
- Infrastructure automation (Puppet, Ansible, or similar)
- Python, Shell, Bash scripting
