About this role
Sila, a battery materials company, seeks a hands-on Reactor Design Engineer to lead the design, build, and testing of novel chemical vapor deposition R&D hardware from concept through deployment. You'll collaborate with chemists, vendors, and technicians to iterate designs rapidly, troubleshoot systems, and document your work for successful handoff in a fast-paced clean energy environment.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and test R&D hardware for chemical vapor deposition proof-of-concept projects
- Manage vendor and contractor relationships to fabricate and integrate designed systems
- Iterate designs based on end-user feedback in fast learning cycles
- Diagnose and resolve technical problems through data analysis and stakeholder collaboration
- Document designs, create commissioning procedures, and ensure successful project handoff
- Plan and execute projects on schedule, balancing flexibility and robustness

- Mechanical design and CAD (SolidWorks preferred)
- Programming (Python, C, .NET, or IEC 61131 PLC automation)
- AC/DC power fundamentals and electrical troubleshooting
