About this role
Skydio seeks a Systems Integration and Test Engineer to ensure reliability and performance of autonomous drones by defining system requirements, conducting comprehensive testing, analyzing field data, and leading cross-functional issue resolution across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
What you'll do
- Define comprehensive, testable system requirements at product and component levels in partnership with product managers and developers
- Verify overall system performance and integrity through architecture definition, design reviews, and component selection
- Perform product bring-up and performance verification during new product introduction cycles
- Investigate early system failures, triage cross-functional issues, and drive creative resolution strategies
- Analyze flight telemetry and field data to inform risk assessments, maintenance protocols, and future mitigations
- Develop test infrastructure, tracking systems, and processes to enable efficient product development

- Systems engineering and cross-domain problem-solving (mechanical, electrical, software)
- Test design and execution for system bringup and performance verification
- Design for reliability principles and physics of failure analysis
- Python and/or SQL for dataset analysis and system scripting
- Mechatronic prototyping and test fixture development
- Electronics subsystems knowledge (PCBAs, motors, batteries, cameras, sensors)
- Technical communication across cross-functional teams
- Risk identification and ownership in issue resolution
