Software Engineer, Backend

Sleeper is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to enhance their rapidly growing fantasy sports platform. The role involves designing scalable backend systems for real-time user experiences, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and optimizing system performance for millions of users.

What you'll do

• Design and build core backend systems for games and user experiences
• Develop scalable, distributed systems for high user concurrency
• Manage backend projects from concept to deployment
• Optimize performance and address system bottlenecks
• Collaborate with product, design, and frontend teams
• Conduct code reviews and uphold engineering best practices

What they're looking for

• 3+ years of backend software engineering experience
• Proficiency in backend languages (Go, Python, Node.js, Java)
• Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases
• Experience with caching strategies and message queues
• RESTful and/or GraphQL API design
• Cloud platform familiarity (AWS, GCP)
• Strong product mindset
• Excellent communication skills
