About this role

SpaceX is hiring an Embedded Software Engineer to develop and maintain OS/platform software for Starlink satellites and ground systems. You'll work on Linux kernel customization, secure boot, device drivers, and satellite software infrastructure, interfacing with hardware teams to bring components from prototype to on-orbit operations.

What you'll do

  • Maintain and update in-house Linux, Buildroot, and u-boot branches for spacecraft
  • Implement secure boot and runtime security for Linux-based satellite components
  • Develop and test spacecraft software update processes and Ethernet network connectivity
  • Create and support device drivers for third-party and in-house components
  • Support System-on-Chip lifecycle from prototype through on-orbit operations
  • Build and maintain OS/platform test infrastructure and collaborate with hardware teams
