SpaceX

Fluids Engineer, Launch Hardware Engineering

Cape Canaveral, FLmidAdded today

About this role

SpaceX seeks a Fluids Engineer to design, build, and commission complex fluid systems for Starship and Superheavy Booster launch and processing facilities. You'll apply thermodynamics and control theory to develop cryogenic, high-pressure, and hydraulic systems while collaborating across engineering disciplines and managing field operations at Cape Canaveral.

What you'll do

  • Design and activate cryogenic, high-pressure, hydraulic, and oxygen-clean fluid systems for launch pads and test sites
  • Model piping assemblies in CAD and perform stress analysis to validate system integrity
  • Create and interpret detailed piping and instrumentation diagrams for complex systems
  • Select and specify components including valves, pumps, tanks, filters, and piping assemblies
  • Coordinate cross-disciplinary integration with civil, structural, electrical, and controls engineers
  • Manage field fabrication, installation, and real-time troubleshooting during system activation and testing

What they're looking for

  • Cryogenic fluid systems design and operation
  • ASME pressure vessel and piping codes (B31, B&PV Code Section VIII)
  • CAD software (Siemens NX, SOLIDWORKS)
  • Pipe stress analysis (CAESAR II)
  • Thermodynamics and fluid flow analysis
  • Python or data analysis programming
  • Control systems troubleshooting
  • AN/AS fluid fittings and specifications
