Mechanical Engineer (Starship Avionics)

SpaceX is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for the Starship avionics team, focused on designing advanced avionics systems to enhance orbital flight and enable human life on Mars. The role involves hands-on design and testing of systems in extreme environments, requiring a strong background in mechanical and electromechanical design.

What you'll do

• Design custom instrumentation for extreme conditions
• Create integrated product solutions for assemblies
• Participate in manufacturing processes including testing
• Conduct thermal and structural analysis of assemblies
• Lead design reviews and collaborate with suppliers
• Interface with production teams for manufacturability

What they're looking for

• Bachelor's degree in relevant engineering field
• 1+ years of design and analysis experience
• Proficient in CAD and finite element analysis software
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Knowledge of GD&T principles
• Experience with high vibration and pressure designs
• Understanding of structural analysis and failure modes
• Familiarity with PCB layout and testing
