About this role

SpaceX seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design and oversee launch pads, recovery systems, and production tooling for Starship. You'll own projects end-to-end, collaborating across disciplines to deliver hardware that meets operational, functional, and aesthetic requirements while managing cost and schedule trade-offs.

What you'll do

  • Design and analyze mechanical systems for launch pads, recovery infrastructure, and production tooling
  • Own projects from conception through testing and activation, coordinating builds with cross-functional teams
  • Perform structural sizing, mechanism design, and trade studies balancing performance with cost and schedule
  • Collaborate with launch operations teams to ensure deliverables meet all requirements
  • Present cost and schedule trade proposals to leadership
  • Work hands-on with technicians and engineers to enable project completion when needed
