About this role
SpaceX seeks a Mechanical Engineer to design and oversee launch pads, recovery systems, and production tooling for Starship. You'll own projects end-to-end, collaborating across disciplines to deliver hardware that meets operational, functional, and aesthetic requirements while managing cost and schedule trade-offs.
What you'll do
- Design and analyze mechanical systems for launch pads, recovery infrastructure, and production tooling
- Own projects from conception through testing and activation, coordinating builds with cross-functional teams
- Perform structural sizing, mechanism design, and trade studies balancing performance with cost and schedule
- Collaborate with launch operations teams to ensure deliverables meet all requirements
- Present cost and schedule trade proposals to leadership
- Work hands-on with technicians and engineers to enable project completion when needed
