Software Engineer, Components (Starshield)

About this role

SpaceX seeks a Software Engineer to develop test automation infrastructure for Starshield spacecraft components. You'll design and build test systems that validate flight hardware performance, combining software development with hardware integration to ensure mission-critical reliability.

What you'll do

• Develop modular test and automation software in Python for manufacturing and design verification
• Write automation to interact with flight hardware, test equipment, and instrumentation systems
• Create custom automation solutions combining embedded electronics and hardware innovations
• Develop algorithms to analyze test data and verify component acceptance criteria
• Maintain automation infrastructure and troubleshoot failures in collaboration with partner teams
• Define project plans, manage milestones, and ensure reliable test systems reach production
