About this role
Stratolaunch seeks an experienced avionics engineer to develop and integrate Flight Termination Systems (FTS) and Autonomous Flight Safety Systems (AFSS) for hypersonic air-launch platforms. The role involves subsystem testing, range safety coordination, hardware integration, and flight test planning while adhering to RCC-319/324 standards.
What you'll do
- Develop, implement, and test FTS and AFSS subsystems for hypersonic aircraft
- Collaborate with range safety personnel to review, approve, and develop FTS/AFSS documentation and requirements
- Design and procure Autonomous Flight Safety Hardware-in-the-Loop systems
- Plan and execute integrated flight tests for carrier aircraft, pylon, and vehicle combinations
- Evaluate risks and develop mitigation strategies; support design reviews throughout development
- Provide weekly and monthly technical updates to Avionics Chief Engineer and FTS/AFSS Program Manager
