Supabase
Platform Engineer - Compute Capacity
About this role
Supabase is hiring a Platform Engineer to own compute capacity planning and provisioning systems that ensure their multi-region Postgres infrastructure has sufficient resources ahead of demand. You'll build forecasting, reservation automation, observability, and alerting systems while managing cost tradeoffs across millions of databases.
What you'll do
- Build and maintain capacity planning systems that forecast compute demand across regions and instance families
- Develop automation for reservation acquisition, fleet reconciliation, and drift detection between planned vs. actual capacity
- Create and maintain metrics and alerting for saturation, forecast error, and provisioning latency
- Support buffer policy modeling and help teams understand capacity headroom vs. cost tradeoffs
- Extend infrastructure-as-code systems for capacity provisioning and management
- Participate in capacity incidents and drive mitigation projects like right-sizing and workload consolidation
What they're looking for
- Infrastructure engineering or SRE at scale
- Production software engineering (TypeScript, Python, or Go)
- Infrastructure as Code (Pulumi or Terraform)
- Observability and monitoring (Prometheus, Grafana, CloudWatch)
- AWS EC2 expertise (instances, reservations, quotas)
- Capacity and cost forecasting
- Cross-functional communication with technical and finance teams
- Financial fluency around compute economics
Benefits
- Fully remote, work from anywhere globally
- Equity ownership (ESOP) for all employees
- Tech allowance for equipment and setup
- 100% health insurance coverage for employees, 80% for dependents
- Annual company off-sites
- CoWorking or WeWork membership allowance
