About this role

Varda seeks an Embedded Software Engineer II to develop and maintain critical firmware for spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules operating in low Earth orbit. You'll own the complete software lifecycle—from requirements and design through testing and flight operations—building highly reliable systems that control mission-critical hardware.

What you'll do

  • Develop firmware to control spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operations throughout the mission lifecycle
  • Own all phases of software development including design, testing, and integration
  • Capture requirements and conduct design trades for open-ended problems
  • Write structured bare metal, RTOS, or Linux-based software in C++ for embedded processors
  • Build highly reliable and available software systems
  • Execute verification, validation, and testing to ensure system quality and performance
