About this role

Varda seeks an Embedded Linux Engineer II to develop and maintain critical flight software for spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules. You'll own the full software lifecycle—from requirements and design through testing and orbital operations—writing reliable C++ code for embedded processors in safety-critical aerospace applications.

What you'll do

  • Develop reliable flight software controlling spacecraft, satellite bus, and reentry capsule operation throughout missions
  • Write structured C++ code for embedded processors, including bare metal, RTOS, and Linux-based systems
  • Design, test, and integrate software across all development phases
  • Capture requirements and perform design trades for open-ended technical problems
  • Conduct software testing, verification, and validation to ensure system quality and performance
  • Collaborate with team members to communicate solutions and solve problems

  • Spacecraft or safety-critical software development (3+ years)
  • Real-time embedded systems design and testing
