About this role
Vast seeks an Avionics Manufacturing Engineer to lead solar array and avionics hardware from design through full-scale production for commercial space stations and satellites. You'll collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize manufacturing processes, ensure quality standards, and drive continuous improvement while supporting Haven-1 and satellite product lines.
What you'll do
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes for solar array production and integration, collaborating with design teams on manufacturability
- Create assembly procedures, work instructions, and manufacturing plans ensuring consistent production quality and compliance with specifications
- Design tooling and ground support equipment to improve production efficiency, testing, and inspection capabilities
- Support environmental and deployment testing campaigns; conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for manufacturing issues
- Manage supplier relationships, reviewing and approving their manufacturing processes to ensure timely delivery of quality components
- Lead hands-on assembly, integration, and testing; mentor team members and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
