Security Engineer III

San Jose, CA, USAFrom $347.5kmidAdded today

About this role

Veeam seeks a Security Engineer III to design and operate their cloud security detection platform across Azure and AWS, building the security data lake and automated threat response systems that protect their SaaS infrastructure. You'll own detection engineering end-to-end—from telemetry ingestion through remediation automation—and harden cloud environments using infrastructure-as-code practices.

What you'll do

  • Design and build security data lake for telemetry ingestion, normalization, and retention from Azure, AWS, SaaS, and endpoint sources
  • Author, test, and deploy detections as code with full lifecycle management including tuning, CI/CD deployment, and false-positive measurement
  • Automate incident response: triage, enrichment, runbook integration, and mean-time-to-detect/respond optimization
  • Harden Azure and AWS environments through identity/RBAC, network egress, secret handling, and exposure control across multiple tenants
  • Deliver cloud security controls via Terraform modules and pipelines to enforce consistent hardening across all environments
  • Manage cloud security posture findings, partner with resource owners, and drive remediation workflows

What they're looking for

  • Microsoft Sentinel, Log Analytics, and KQL
  • Azure security services (Defender for Cloud, Entra ID, Key Vault, Azure Policy, Azure Monitor)
  • AWS security services (CloudTrail, GuardDuty, Security Hub, IAM, Config, CloudWatch)
  • Terraform and infrastructure-as-code (GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
  • Python for automation, enrichment, and detection tooling
  • Detection-as-code and Sigma patterns
  • Cloud data platforms and OCSF normalization
  • Cloud security posture tools (Wiz, attack-path analysis)

Likely interview questions

  • Walk us through how you'd design a security data lake to ingest telemetry from Azure, AWS, and SaaS sources—what are your normalization and retention trade-offs?
  • Describe a detection you've written in production: how did you test it, measure false positives, and decide when to retire it?
