Software Engineer, Quantitative Evaluations

Waymo is seeking a Software Engineer for its Planner Evaluation team to enhance the quality of software driving autonomous vehicles. The ideal candidate will leverage data to evaluate software changes and work collaboratively to drive improvements in performance metrics.

What you'll do

• Develop measurements for the Waymo driver's performance.
• Utilize simulation and real-world driving data for analysis.
• Design methods linking software changes to simulated results.
• Promote code quality and best practices.
• Analyze data to enhance metric quality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on evaluation deliverables.

What they're looking for

• BS in Computer Science, Robotics, Statistics, or related field
• Proficiency in C++, Python, and SQL
• Experience in statistical analysis
• Ability to build data processing pipelines
• Strong quantitative data fluency
• Experience with machine learning
• Familiarity with A/B testing infrastructure
• Exposure to ad-hoc data analysis tools
