About this role
Waymo seeks a Software Quality Ops Specialist to serve as a subject matter expert in simulation-based scenario testing for autonomous vehicles. You'll bridge simulation capabilities with operational execution, supporting tooling development, rapid issue response, policy creation, and quality assurance as the company scales to ~20 new cities by end of 2026.
What you'll do
- Partner with Product and Engineering on design, testing, and deployment of simulation tools combining human-in-the-loop precision with AI-driven automation
- Drive technical processes for rapid-response simulation testing when field issues emerge, supporting root-cause evaluation and fix validation
- Define and document policies, guidelines, and SOPs that integrate advanced tools into vendor workflows
- Design and implement quality control processes for human and AI-generated outputs, performing meta-quality checks and validating vendor work
- Provide technical leadership to cross-functional stakeholders as SME, advising on testing coverage feasibility and tool improvements
- Apply expertise in AV software stack and tooling to support deployment and scaling decisions
