Systems Test Engineer, Sensing

Waymo is seeking a Systems Test Engineer to focus on verifying and validating sensor systems, primarily radar, for autonomous operations. The role involves designing automated tests, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and analyzing test data to ensure safety and performance standards are met.

What you'll do

• Lead verification and validation of sensor systems for autonomous driving
• Design and execute automated testing across multiple platforms
• Collaborate with engineers and external teams to optimize testing methodologies
• Write reusable sensor data analysis and automation software
• Develop verification and validation plans and technical reports
• Analyze test outcomes and present findings

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
• Experience in Python or similar languages (e.g., MATLAB, SQL, C++)
• Ability to write maintainable software for production
• Experience with verification and validation (V&V) methods
• Collaboration skills with remote teams
• Familiarity with robotics or perception technologies
• Debugging complex systems
• Simulation-based testing knowledge
