Manufacturing Process Engineer, Hands
About this role
1X seeks a Manufacturing Process Engineer to develop and scale production processes for their sophisticated humanoid robotic hands, transforming prototypes into high-yield, repeatable manufacturing systems. You'll own assembly, testing, and qualification processes while driving yield, cost, and scalability improvements through data-driven methods and hands-on floor work.
What you'll do
- Develop, qualify, and sustain assembly and test processes for complex robotic hands from prototype through production ramp
- Design and execute DOE, MSA/GR&R, and capability studies to define critical process parameters and prove manufacturing capability
- Identify root causes of defects and process failures, implementing durable corrective actions and managing production transfers
- Improve first-pass yield, OEE, cycle time, and cost while reducing variation, scrap, and rework
- Influence product and process design through DFM, DFA, DFT, tolerance analysis, and mistake-proofing recommendations
- Prototype manufacturing methods on the production floor and convert validated approaches into documented, controlled systems
