Software Engineer I, Data Platform
About this role
Abnormal AI is seeking a Software Engineer I to join the Data Platform team, building and maintaining scalable infrastructure that powers AI-native SaaS applications. You'll work with experienced engineers on core components including databases, streaming systems, and orchestration tools while contributing to projects that enable the broader engineering organization.
What you'll do
- Design, develop, and operate core data platform components including storage systems and data processing infrastructure
- Build tools and services that simplify adoption and scaling of data systems for other engineering teams
- Automate infrastructure and operations to enhance reliability, performance, and scalability
- Collaborate across teams to address scalability and reliability challenges in data-intensive workloads
- Apply GenAI techniques to improve developer and operator experiences
- Take end-to-end ownership of assigned projects with guidance from senior engineers
What they're looking for
- Python, Go, or similar backend programming languages
- Software engineering fundamentals: data structures, clean code, testing, debugging
- AWS and cloud platform concepts
- Distributed systems and infrastructure principles
- PostgreSQL, OpenSearch, Redis, or similar database technologies
- Kafka, Spark, Airflow, or DBT (batch/stream processing and orchestration)
- Problem-solving and communication skills
- Ability to learn and work independently and collaboratively
