The Area Asset Protection Manager plays a critical role in supporting and executing the company’s Asset Protection strategy across an assigned area of approximately 2 districts. Reporting to the Regional Asset Protection Manager, this role partners closely with Store Leadership, Retail Operations, and cross-functional teams to reduce shrink, mitigate risk, and ensure a safe and secure environment for guests and employees.
This role leverages data analysis, operational expertise, and field presence to implement and maintain effective Asset Protection programs that support Alo’s growth and brand standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Shrink & Loss Prevention
- Analyze inventory shrink results and support stores in developing strategies to reduce losses from external theft, internal theft, and operational errors
- Execute shrink reduction initiatives and ensure alignment with corporate Asset Protection strategies
- Identify high-risk stores and implement targeted action plans to improve results
- Leverage reporting tools to detect trends and potential theft activity
Team Leadership
- Directly manage and develop Asset Protection Specialists across assigned districts
- Provide coaching, training, and performance management to drive consistency and accountability
- Establish clear priorities and ensure strong execution of Asset Protection programs at the store level
Investigations
- Conduct internal and external investigations related to theft, fraud, and policy violations
- Utilize POS exception reporting and other tools to identify integrity concerns, cash loss, and merchandise loss
- Conduct interviews with suspects and witnesses and document findings thoroughly
- Partner with HR, Legal, and Store Leadership to resolve cases and take appropriate action
- Ensure all investigations are completed in compliance with company policies and legal standards
Risk & Safety Management
- Conduct store-level risk and vulnerability assessments and provide actionable recommendations
- Respond to incident reports including theft, workplace incidents, safety concerns, and emergencies
- Support store teams during elevated risk situations (e.g., organized retail crime, safety threats)
- Maintain awareness of local security trends and risks within assigned districts
Store Support & Partnerships
- Build strong partnerships with Store Leadership, District Managers, and cross-functional teams
- Provide training and guidance on Asset Protection policies, procedures, and best practices
- Support new store openings with security assessments and AP onboarding
- Act as a key liaison between stores and Regional AP leadership
Security & Operations
- Support management of physical security systems including CCTV, alarms, and access controls
- Ensure compliance with company standards for cash handling, key control, and store security
- Assist in managing third-party security vendors as needed within assigned area
Security, Technology & Innovation
- Support management of physical security systems including CCTV, alarms, and access controls

- Champion and drive adoption of AI and advanced technology solutions to enhance loss prevention, reporting, and investigative capabilities
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness through automation, data analytics, and emerging AP technologies
- Assist in managing third-party security vendors as needed within assigned area
Reporting & Communication
- Support preparation of regular Asset Protection reporting including KPI tracking and trend analysis
- Communicate risks, findings, and recommendations clearly to leadership
- Escalate critical issues to Regional AP Manager in a timely manner
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 3–5 years of asset protection or loss prevention experience, preferably in a multi-unit retail environment
- Experience conducting investigations and working with store operations teams
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive actionable outcomes
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to travel within assigned districts (including occasional overnight travel)
- Flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and retail systems (e.g., POS, RFID, Shopify)
COMPENSATION
The base salary range for this position is $90,000–$100,000 per year (adjustable based on market, scope, and experience). This role is eligible for additional compensation components, including performance bonuses and a comprehensive benefits package.
