Electronics Process Engineer
About this role
ALTEN Technology USA seeks an experienced Electronics Process Engineer to own Design for Manufacturing, Assembly, and Test activities for PCB/PCBA designs in aerospace manufacturing. You'll bridge engineering and outsourced manufacturing partners, driving manufacturability analysis, process documentation, and shop-floor investigations from early design through production release.
What you'll do
- Execute DFM, DFA, and DFT activities on PCBA designs, partnering with design engineering to identify and resolve manufacturability risks before production release
- Review schematics, layouts, and BOMs against manufacturing capability; provide design feedback and drive design-for-X change requests
- Document PCB/PCBA manufacturing processes, standards, lessons learned, and failure modes; maintain knowledge as new processes are introduced
- Support manufacturing investigations and root cause analysis for defects, yield issues, and process non-conformances
- Establish detailed manufacturing requirements, process specifications, and inspection/test criteria for outsourced PCBA programs
- Support supplier qualification, audits, and first-article inspections; collaborate cross-functionally with Design, Quality, Test, and Supply Chain

- PCB and PCBA manufacturing processes in aerospace or high-reliability environments
- SMT reflow soldering, hand soldering, and wave soldering; reflow profile development
- IPC-A-610 and J-STD workmanship standards; MIL-SPEC requirements
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and Design for Test (DFT)
- Inspection methods: 3D inspection, X-ray, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI)
- Component packaging, land pattern design, and assembly tolerances
- Root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) processes
- Technical documentation and cross-functional communication
