About this role

ALTEN Technology USA seeks an experienced Exterior Mechanisms Engineer to own the design and launch of automotive closure and accessory systems—doors, hoods, liftgates, and related hardware—on a clean sheet vehicle program. You'll drive CAD, kinematic analysis, supplier management, and validation from concept through production, working in a flat team structure where design ownership extends through manufacturing and field support.

What you'll do

  • Own exterior mechanism components end-to-end: concept, CAD design, kinematic studies, tolerance analysis, and production launch
  • Design hinges, latches, strikers, gas struts, actuators, linkages and cable systems to meet effort targets, cycle life and load cases
  • Build and maintain CAD models in 3DX and CATIA; develop motion envelopes, swing paths and clearance verification
  • Define and drive DFMEA, DVP&R and test plans; coordinate with validation teams to close issues and document compliance
  • Apply design for manufacturing principles to injection molded, sheet metal and stamped components; manage tooling feasibility and constraints
  • Source and manage suppliers through design reviews, gates, PPAP and issue resolution; support prototype and pilot builds hands-on
