Mechanical Design Engineer
About this role
ALTEN Technology USA seeks an onsite Mechanical Design Engineer in Berkeley, CA to design and optimize mechanical components across aerospace, medical, and automotive sectors. You'll create CAD models, drive cost reductions, and support products from concept through production using SolidWorks and advanced design methodologies.
What you'll do
- Create and revise 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, BOMs, and engineering releases in SolidWorks
- Develop cost-reduction concepts while maintaining design requirements and critical interfaces
- Perform packaging, tolerance, fit, form, and manufacturability assessments
- Resolve nonconformities and field issues through root-cause analysis and design iteration
- Support design reviews, supplier coordination, prototype evaluation, and validation planning

- GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis
- Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA)
