About this role
Kairos Power seeks an experienced Process Engineer to design, build, and commission a TRISO nuclear fuel manufacturing facility in Albuquerque, transitioning to Gillette, Wyoming. The role spans process system development, equipment procurement, factory testing, and operational startup for a cutting-edge fluoride-salt-cooled reactor fuel production operation.
What you'll do
- Develop process flow diagrams, heat and material balances, P&IDs, and equipment specifications for fuel manufacturing systems
- Define design requirements for tanks, vessels, pumps, thermal systems, and chemical handling equipment with coordinated utility integration
- Lead process hazard evaluations and implement engineered controls for hazardous chemical and industrial processes
- Support vendor procurement, technical reviews, factory acceptance testing, and equipment fabrication oversight
- Coordinate commissioning plans, startup procedures, and operational readiness across operations, maintenance, and EHS teams
- Drive continuous improvement through process data analysis and troubleshooting during commissioning and operations

- Process design and engineering (PFDs, H&MBs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets)
- Chemical engineering or related discipline with 10+ years in regulated industries
- Facility design integration across process, mechanical, electrical, and controls disciplines

- Engineering software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, process simulation tools)
