About this role

Amperesand is seeking a Materials and Process Engineer to be the technical authority on material selection and processing for their innovative Solid State Transformer products. This hands-on role involves leading material development, process qualification, and failure analysis, partnering with cross-functional teams to ensure scalability and reliability. The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of materials science principles and experience bringing new materials and processes to production.

What you'll do

  • Select materials across dielectrics, polymers, and composites, balancing performance and cost.
  • Develop and qualify manufacturing processes like potting, coating, and thin film deposition.
  • Define process parameters and work with manufacturing on production controls.
  • Lead materials characterization and failure analysis investigations.
  • Source and develop novel materials with suppliers.
  • Influence design trade-offs across insulation, thermal management, and manufacturability.
