DFx Engineer, Mechanical & Fluid Systems
About this role
Anduril Industries seeks a DFx Engineer to evaluate mechanical, thermal, and fluid system designs for manufacturability, assembly, and cost across autonomous aircraft and munitions programs. You'll work with manufacturing and design teams to identify producibility risks, support supplier qualification, and develop cost models while gaining hands-on exposure to production environments.
What you'll do
- Conduct DFx analysis and reviews for mechanical, structural, thermal, and fluid systems subsystems using standardized scoring methodology
- Participate in DFMEAs and translate findings into design changes, inspection strategies, and control plans
- Support contract manufacturer evaluation, facility reviews, and capability assessments
- Build and maintain should-cost models and cost-driver analyses for assemblies
- Develop and maintain DFx standards, guidelines, and scorecards for processes like CNC machining, welding, composites, and assembly
- Travel to production facilities and supplier sites to understand manufacturing realities (~20%)
