About this role
Anduril Industries seeks an Electro-Mechanical Engineer to develop early-stage R&D prototypes for advanced defense systems at their Costa Mesa headquarters. You'll own complex projects spanning mechanical structures, power systems, PCBs, sensors, and payloads, with significant autonomy to prove feasibility and drive rapid concept validation.
What you'll do
- Execute rapid concept evaluation and trade studies across diverse engineering fields using first principles physics
- Design, build, and test electro-mechanical prototypes including mechanisms, actuators, batteries, and sensor systems
- Conduct vendor research, manage supplier relationships, and lead design reviews
- Perform hardware testing, failure analysis, and transition successful designs toward production
- Support customer and leadership demonstrations at test sites
- Travel to vendors, test facilities, and field demonstrations as needed
What they're looking for
- Mechanical and/or electrical design (3+ years professional experience)
- CAD proficiency and engineering drawing standards
- PCB design and ECAD tools (Altium, KiCAD)
- Hands-on prototyping and machining
- Power systems, battery management, or motor/servo controls
- Microcontroller design and firmware experience
- Communication protocols (USB, CAN, I2C, SPI, UART)
- Systems thinking and first principles analysis
