Embedded Linux Software Engineer – Robotics Platform (DeviceOS)
About this role
Anduril is seeking an Embedded Linux Software Engineer to own the critical boot and hardware abstraction layer for autonomous robotic systems deployed globally. You'll customize vendor board support packages, debug complex hardware-software integration issues, and maintain long-lived deployed platforms across ARM and NVIDIA Jetson architectures.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end boot sequences including firmware, bootloaders, kernel images, encryption, and system handoff on deployed hardware
- Customize and sustain vendor board support packages (Tegra, NXP, etc.) while integrating with NixOS and producing kernel/device tree patches
- Ensure deterministic hardware enumeration and operation of cameras, radars, CAN networks, motor controllers, and radios across platform upgrades
- Triage and remediate CVEs in vendor kernels and low-level components for systems already deployed in the field
- Design and maintain Hardware-in-the-Loop test automation to catch regressions before flight or field deployment
- Perform root-cause analysis on intermittent bus errors, thermal throttling, kernel panics, and boot hangs using hardware schematics and diagnostics

- Embedded Linux boot chain (U-Boot, EDK2, device trees, initrd, encrypted filesystems)
- C programming for kernel drivers and BSP customization
- Rust or C++ for userspace platform integration
- Hardware debugging with serial consoles, logic analyzers, and oscilloscopes
- Reading schematics and component datasheets for hardware diagnosis
- NixOS and modern Linux package management
- ARM and NVIDIA Jetson architecture experience
- Kernel and vendor BSP patch development and upstream contribution
