About this role
Anduril Industries seeks a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of payload carriage and release systems for autonomous rotorcraft. You'll own the full lifecycle from concept through low-rate production, collaborating across disciplines in a fast-paced defense technology environment.
What you'll do
- Own physical design of payload carriage and release systems from initial concept to production
- Define requirements, propose solutions, and establish verification methodology for mechanical systems
- Partner with electrical, actuation, and systems teams to ensure integrated reliability and cost-effectiveness
- Conduct design reviews, structural analysis, prototype building, and hardware test planning
- Lead enhancement of team tools, templates, processes, and engineering standards
- Travel to test sites and vendors to support hardware demonstrations and development activities
