About this role
Anduril Industries seeks a Mechanical Engineer for its Space team to design and develop hardware subsystems for AI-powered space defense systems. You'll own the full lifecycle of hardware from concept through launch on early-stage programs with meaningful influence on design decisions and real flight opportunities.
What you'll do
- Design mechanical hardware in CAD, perform structural analysis, and build prototypes from first principles
- Execute trade-off analyses on architecture and packaging to simplify designs
- Present technical status at subsystem design reviews and communicate timelines
- Develop and execute test plans, analyze failures, and coordinate with vendors
- Transition prototype designs to flight-ready hardware and low-rate production
- Create technical documentation including engineering drawings, test procedures, and specifications

- CAD proficiency and engineering drawing standards
- Structural analysis and hand calculations
- Hands-on fabrication (mill, lathe, drill press, shop equipment)
- Mechanics of materials, thermodynamics, and heat transfer
- Prototyping and hardware integration
- Technical communication and design review presentations
- NX/Teamcenter (preferred)
- Python or MATLAB for analysis (preferred)
