About this role

Anduril Industries seeks a Mission Software Engineer to debug and fix issues in autonomous underwater/surface vehicle systems deployed in the field. You'll reproduce field anomalies, diagnose root causes across multiple subsystems, implement fixes in Rust/C++/Python/Go, and build observability practices for the maritime autonomy team.

What you'll do

  • Reproduce and diagnose field-reported anomalies in autonomous vehicle software using logs, metrics, and replay tooling
  • Implement fixes across multiple programming languages with proper testing and CI/CD processes
  • Reconstruct system state using observability infrastructure (metrics dashboards, centralized logs) to determine root causes
  • Validate fixes in simulation and hardware-in-the-loop environments before deploying to production vehicles
  • Document root causes and fixes to identify systemic gaps and improve the on-call runbook
  • Travel 25%+ to support field operations and validate fixes with deployed systems

  • Debugging unfamiliar codebases under time pressure with incomplete information
  • Proficiency in at least two of: Rust, modern C++, Python, Go
  • Systems debugging with logs, metrics, and offline data replay
  • Observability tooling (Prometheus/Grafana, Loki/ELK equivalents)
