About this role

Antares is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer (Level I or II) to lead hardware design and development for nuclear power systems destined for space, the Moon, and Mars. You'll own complete design cycles from concept through qualification testing, managing CAD, system interfaces, requirements, and manufacturing scalability while collaborating across nuclear, thermal, structures, and quality teams.

What you'll do

  • Own hardware deliverables and drive requirements definition, build/test cycles, and design phases through CDR
  • Manage CAD models, configurations, technical drawings, DFMEA, and manufacturing documentation
  • Lead development testing setup, test definition, and documentation efforts
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams (nuclear, thermal, structures, manufacturing, quality) on system architecture
  • Support design reviews, integration/test planning, manufacturing plans, and ground support equipment design
  • Develop clean-sheet designs through procurement and dev/qual testing cycles
