About this role

Apex seeks a Cloud Security Engineer to design and maintain secure, compliant cloud environments across AWS GovCloud and multi-cloud platforms for U.S. government and DoD missions. The role involves implementing NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, and RMF compliance frameworks while managing identity and access controls, conducting security assessments, and responding to threats in regulated aerospace and defense contexts.

What you'll do

  • Design and implement secure cloud architectures across AWS GovCloud, Azure, and Google Cloud with encryption, network segmentation, and least-privilege access
  • Implement and maintain compliance frameworks for NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, DoD IL-2/4/5, RMF, and SCCA standards
  • Configure IAM, RBAC, JIT access, key vaults, and Zero Trust Architecture across cloud environments
  • Deploy and optimize security tools including Microsoft Defender, Azure Sentinel, AWS security services, CSPM/CWPP, and Elastic SIEM
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security reviews against STIGs, CIS benchmarks, and NIST controls
  • Develop System Security Plans, Security Assessment Reports, POA&Ms, and incident response for cloud operations
