About this role
Rocket Lab seeks a Spacecraft Propulsion Components Engineer I to lead system and component-level development of propulsion and fluidic subsystems for advanced space missions. You will own product development end-to-end, perform CAD design and analysis, oversee testing, manage projects, and mentor junior team members while supporting civil, commercial, and defense space programs.
What you'll do
- Lead end-to-end development of propulsion system products and components from concept through delivery
- Perform conceptual and detailed mechanical design in CAD with performance calculations and engineering analysis
- Plan, setup, and execute propulsion system testing with instrumentation and data analysis
- Review and approve engineering drawings, specifications, and technical reports from team members
- Manage project schedules, prioritize tasks, coordinate with engineers and technicians, and report status to leadership
- Mentor and coach team members on technical skills and professional development

- Propulsion system design and development (chemical and/or electrical)
- CAD software (NX preferred) and PLM tools (Teamcenter or Windchill)
- Mechanical design with GD&T and engineering drawing standards
- Test planning, execution, instrumentation, and data analysis
- Project management and technical leadership
- Python for data manipulation and analysis
- National Instruments data acquisition systems
- Systems engineering and requirements/verification processes
