About this role

Apex is seeking a Cloud Security Engineer to design and secure cloud environments for U.S. government and DoD missions across AWS GovCloud, Azure, and hybrid infrastructures. You'll implement compliance frameworks (NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, RMF), manage IAM/Zero Trust architectures, deploy security tools, and conduct vulnerability assessments while supporting secure cloud migrations.

What you'll do

  • Design secure cloud architectures across AWS GovCloud, Azure, and Google Cloud with encryption, network segmentation, and least-privilege access
  • Implement and maintain compliance with NIST 800-53, FedRAMP, DoD IL-2/4/5, RMF, and SCCA requirements
  • Configure IAM, RBAC, JIT access, Key Vaults, and Zero Trust Architecture principles across cloud platforms
  • Deploy and optimize security tools including Microsoft Defender, Azure Sentinel, AWS security services, CSPM/CWPP, and Elastic SIEM
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, and security reviews against STIGs and CIS benchmarks with continuous monitoring
  • Develop System Security Plans, Security Assessment Reports, and POA&M documentation; investigate security incidents and perform root-cause analysis
