About this role
Apex is hiring a Mechanisms Engineer to design and develop payload deployment and articulation mechanisms for commercial satellite buses. You'll own hardware from concept through flight, focusing on reliable operation in space environments and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
What you'll do
- Design deployment, articulation, and release mechanisms including hinges, latches, actuators, and moving assemblies
- Develop 3D CAD models, engineering drawings, tolerance analyses, and GD&T specifications
- Perform hand calculations and analysis for loads, kinematics, stiffness, and mechanism performance
- Select and integrate motors, bearings, springs, fasteners, and actuators into designs
- Support assembly, integration, troubleshooting, and hands-on testing of hardware
- Develop and execute functional, life-cycle, and environmental testing protocols
