About this role

Apex is hiring a Propulsion Engineer to design structural modules that integrate thrusters, flow controllers, and power processing units onto commercial satellite buses. You'll own mechanical designs from concept through production, working closely with in-house propulsion teams and manufacturing to optimize for performance, cost, and buildability at scale.

What you'll do

  • Design propulsion module structures and mounting interfaces to meet launch loads, vibration, thermal, and shock requirements
  • Define mechanical, thermal, and structural interfaces between propulsion components and spacecraft vehicles
  • Perform structural analysis using hand calculations and FEA to verify strength, stiffness, and safety margins
  • Collaborate with in-house thruster, flow controller, and PPU teams to optimize component packaging and interfaces
  • Support manufacturing transitions, resolve build issues on the production floor, and incorporate feedback into design iterations
  • Create engineering drawings, tolerance stack-ups, fastening specifications, and assembly work instructions
