About this role
Appian seeks an AI Security Engineer to design and deploy autonomous AI agents for their Security Operations Center, building advanced detection systems that integrate with enterprise security infrastructure. This McLean-based role combines large language models, security automation, and human-analyst collaboration to protect a global enterprise platform.
What you'll do
- Design, test, and deploy autonomous AI agents that integrate with SIEM, EDR, XDR, and threat intelligence platforms
- Convert traditional SOC playbooks into agentic pipelines using DAGs and multi-agent routing architecture
- Build and optimize production-grade RAG workflows to inject real-time security context into agent decision-making
- Evaluate and optimize LLM performance, latency, cost, and context utilization across multiple models
- Engineer human-in-the-loop escalation mechanisms for complex security anomalies
- Implement security controls for LLM systems, addressing prompt injection, data poisoning, and OWASP Top 10 LLM risks
