Software Engineer - Onboard Maps and State Estimation
About this role
Applied Intuition is seeking a Software Engineer to own the onboard live-map estimation system for autonomous vehicles, fusing HD map priors with real-time perception data across multiple vehicle platforms. You'll design the core architecture, change detection logic, and trust semantics that enable safe autonomous navigation while building evaluation pipelines to maintain system quality.
What you'll do
- Own end-to-end onboard live-map estimator: fuse HD map priors with perception into real-time world estimate
- Design and implement map change detection to identify boundary shifts, stop-line moves, and road closures
- Define map trust contracts including confidence semantics and degraded-mode behavior for the planner
- Build evaluation, ground-truth, and metrics pipelines with regression testing to prevent quality drift
- Write production C++ code that meets real-time constraints on embedded compute platforms
- Extend offboard capabilities: aggregate fleet divergence detections into map freshness and correction pipelines
