Applications Engineer
About this role
Arc is seeking an Applications Engineer to develop technical architectures, cost estimates, and proposals for commercial marine electrification projects. You'll partner with business development to size complex electrical systems, build internal estimation tools, and present technical solutions to clients while owning project margins and costs.
What you'll do
- Develop concept solutions and electrical architectures for new marine electrification projects in collaboration with business development
- Design and build internal sizing and estimation tools for electrical loads, thermal limits, and project pricing
- Size and specify marine electrical equipment including high-voltage DC systems, energy storage, switchgear, and propulsion motors
- Create CAD layouts to validate equipment placement and space requirements within vessel hulls
- Generate cost estimates, bills of materials, and pricing rollups with full ownership of project margins
- Present technical architectures to clients, shipyards, and naval architects during the bidding phase

- Marine electrical architecture and diesel-electric/fully electric propulsion systems
- Energy storage systems (ESS), switchgear, and power electronics knowledge
- Electrical single-line diagrams and system block diagram creation
- CAD software (NX, SolidWorks) for conceptual layouts
- Commercial pricing models and margin analysis
- Cross-functional collaboration and technical communication
- Project management across multiple concurrent deadlines
- High-voltage DC power distribution systems
