Archer
Electrical Engineer, Battery
About this role
Archer, an aerospace company developing all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft, seeks an Electrical Engineer to lead battery management system hardware design from conception through production. You'll own high-voltage BMS PCBAs, coordinate cross-functional integration, and ensure safety and reliability across all operating conditions.
What you'll do
- Lead BMS PCBA design lifecycle including simulation, schematics, layout, routing, and manufacturing reviews
- Collaborate with mechanical and software teams to integrate battery hardware into the aircraft pack
- Design circuits for diagnostic coverage, redundancy, and fault-tolerance aligned with safety goals
- Conduct hands-on PCBA bring-up and verification across operating conditions and fault scenarios
- Support production needs including design-for-test, failure analysis, and build process development
- Facilitate hardware fault injection testing and coordinate with software and controls engineers
What they're looking for
- High-voltage battery systems and BMS electronics design
- Altium Designer PCB design and layout
- Circuit simulation tools (LTSpice or equivalent)
- PCB design standards (IPC-610, IPC-2221, IPC-2222)
- Complex electrical circuit design and verification
- Lab equipment operation and troubleshooting
- Cross-functional collaboration and technical communication
- Design-for-manufacturing (DFM) principles
