About this role

Join Astranis as a Software Defined Radio Hardware Intern for a 12-week winter role designing, simulating, and testing internally-developed satellite radio hardware. You'll work hands-on with lab equipment, write automation code, and integrate systems into spacecraft alongside experienced engineers at a well-funded space technology company.

What you'll do

  • Design, simulate, implement, and test software defined radio hardware
  • Bring up and debug hardware in the lab using advanced test instruments
  • Write code to evaluate performance and automate hardware testing
  • Integrate radio systems into spacecraft with cross-functional teams
  • Participate in hands-on PCB assembly, soldering, and rework
  • Document designs and test results for integration with flight systems

What they're looking for

  • Analog circuit design (op amps, transistors, filters)
  • Digital design (FPGAs, SOCs, SERDES, DDR, LVDS)
  • Mixed-signal design (ADCs, DACs, power integrity)
  • RF design (impedance matching, S-parameters)
  • PCB design tools (Altium Designer preferred)
  • Lab instrumentation (oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, signal generator)
  • Python or similar programming languages
  • PCBA hardware design and testing from concept to completion

Benefits

  • Work on hardware flying on operational satellites
  • Exposure to space technology and satellite systems
  • Mentorship from 450-person engineering team
  • Access to top-tier lab equipment and design tools
  • Potential for conversion to full-time employment
  • Meaningful, high-impact project work
