About this role
Axon is seeking a Mission Engineer II to embed with public safety agencies and transform their operational challenges into technical solutions using the Axon platform, AI, and automation. You'll balance hands-on building with technical leadership, serving as a bridge between customer needs and Axon's product teams while driving measurable outcomes.
What you'll do
- Embed onsite with assigned public safety agencies to understand their workflows, systems, and operational priorities
- Build applications, dashboards, workflows, and automations using Axon products, APIs, scripting, and approved development tools
- Translate customer problems into technical requirements and collaborate on testing and iterating solutions with end users
- Serve as the primary technical resource for the agency's Axon environment, coordinating deployments and troubleshooting complex issues
- Identify patterns across customer needs and share successful builds, lessons, and platform insights with Product and Engineering teams
- Help connect agency leadership, frontline users, and Axon internal teams to align on priorities and technical solutions

- Software engineering fundamentals (APIs, data structures, scripting, testing, debugging, version control)
- Python, JavaScript, SQL, or similar programming languages
- Hands-on experience with REST APIs and cloud platforms
- AI and machine learning concepts with practical application experience
- Technical curiosity and rapid learning of new platforms and tools
- Strong communication across technical and non-technical audiences
- Problem-solving in ambiguous, unstructured situations
- Understanding of workflow automation and low-code development
