Site Reliability Engineer II
About this role
Join Axon's CloudNet platform engineering team as a Site Reliability Engineer II to build and operate mission-critical cloud infrastructure supporting public safety systems. You'll drive reliability improvements, guide service mesh adoption, and collaborate across the engineering organization to solve real-time infrastructure challenges at scale.
What you'll do
- Own networking-critical infrastructure components and oversee their reliability in highly regulated environments like FedRAMP
- Advance Istio service mesh adoption and implementation across Axon's cloud ecosystem
- Debug and resolve issues in cloud-native distributed systems while maintaining 4x9s availability
- Automate platform maintenance tasks such as TLS certificate management and vulnerability remediation
- Provide technical guidance to software engineers through design reviews, pair programming, and ad hoc mentorship on networking topics
- Design and implement infrastructure-as-code solutions on Azure and manage Kubernetes clusters at scale

- Networking infrastructure and service mesh technologies (Istio, rate limiting, ingress/egress)
- Kubernetes cluster operations at scale
- Cloud-native distributed systems troubleshooting and debugging
- Infrastructure-as-code and GitOps methodologies
- Python, Golang, Scala, or Java programming
- Azure cloud platform experience
- 24/7 high-volume systems operations
- Security and compliance knowledge (FedRAMP, CJIS)
