Safety Engineer (EHS)
About this role
Base seeks an EHS Engineer to support field operations in Texas, conducting hazard assessments, incident investigations, and ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and state regulations. You'll develop safety policies, perform industrial hygiene studies, and implement corrective actions to protect employees and the environment across a rapidly scaling distributed battery company.
What you'll do
- Conduct hazard assessments and implement health and safety policies aligned with OSHA, NFPA, and Texas codes
- Perform industrial hygiene studies and analyze manufacturing byproducts against human health thresholds
- Inspect facilities, machinery, and equipment to identify hazards and implement machine guarding
- Investigate accidents and occupational diseases to determine root causes and preventive measures
- Develop safety solutions using hierarchy of controls (elimination, substitution, engineering, work practice, training, PPE)
- Manage hazardous and non-hazardous waste and maintain documented safety audits
