Bedrock Robotics
Internship 2027 Hardware Engineer, Machine Integration & Test
About this role
Join Bedrock's hardware team as a Machine Integration & Test intern, where you'll design and build physical interfaces between autonomy systems and heavy construction equipment. You'll work on brackets, enclosures, test stands, and validation procedures that take AI from the lab to real-world jobsites.
What you'll do
- Integrate sensors, compute, and wiring harnesses onto autonomous heavy equipment
- Design brackets, enclosures, and mechanical interfaces in CAD software
- Fabricate, assemble, and install hardware components on machines and test stands
- Build and operate lab test stands to validate subsystems before field deployment
- Run experiments, collect data, and iterate designs based on failure analysis
- Document assembly and installation procedures to standardize future builds
What they're looking for
- CAD design (SolidWorks, Onshape, or equivalent)
- Hands-on fabrication and assembly
- Electrical fundamentals (harnessing, connectors, schematics, multimeters)
- Wiring harness design and termination
- Machining, welding, or 3D printing
- Heavy equipment familiarity
- Technical documentation and communication
- Problem-solving and rapid iteration
