About this role
C1.ai is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer to build and operate the infrastructure powering their horizontal identity platform. You'll own system reliability, observability, and automation across cloud environments including FedRAMP-authorized infrastructure, working in a fast-moving startup with real ownership over foundational systems.
What you'll do
- Design, build, and operate cloud infrastructure across standard and FedRAMP environments to ensure platform reliability and scalability
- Develop monitoring, alerting, and observability tooling that enables rapid incident response and system understanding
- Lead incident response efforts, conduct blameless postmortems, and drive systemic improvements
- Partner with engineering teams to embed reliability practices into feature development from the start
- Automate operational tasks and infrastructure management using infrastructure-as-code principles
- Plan and execute infrastructure projects with iterative deliverables while assessing technical risks and communicating tradeoffs

- Cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or equivalent)
- Infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, Pulumi, or similar)
- Programming in Go, Python, or comparable languages
- Kubernetes and container orchestration in production
- Systems thinking and failure mode analysis
- Observability, monitoring, and alerting architecture
- AI-assisted development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot)
- Clear communication and incident leadership
